I am a long time fan of the author's gambling related books.
This book is nothing like his previous stuff.
It is a trip down memory lane for a catholic american male growing up as a baby boomer.
Parts are funny, parts are thought provoking and some parts have way too much personal info (Yes his wife was right he should have let out THAT chapter) LOL (You will know what I mean when you read the book).
If you fit into his demographic you will certainly identify with it. For other you can get a look into a life.
I think his best stuff was the writing on the question of GOD.
I recommend it.

I was born and raised catholic, and so much is true from that time frame, I really enjoyed it, If you were in school during this time frame you will understand
This book fun, I enjoy Frank adventures and is kind of a biography well written. Frank is a great gambling author but he is a greater writer.
Very enjoyable! Being Catholic, and having been brought up in the Catholic school system, I knew exactly where author was coming from.
I have read Frank Scoblete's gambling books and I always found them informative. Frank's writing style, even in those books, could be funny. He was always insightful. I always liked the stories that touched on the history of dice control. The back-story was always interesting to me.
In this book, Frank examines and reminisces about growing up Catholic, in Brooklyn. He brings to the pages what you might hear if you got together with your friends and got nostalgic. I, like Frank, was born in Brooklyn, and spent my youth there. . I can totally relate to what he is writing.about. It seems that his friends were my friends. Their thoughts, my thoughts. Their escapades and adventures, mine also. I am not finished yet with the book, but so enjoyed so much what I have read, that I wanted to share it with you. This is a great book for anyone who grew up Catholic or anyone who knew a
Catholic and wanted to peek into the confessional booth (which Frank does, with predictable fun). I bought another copy and am gifting it to a friend who is a priest. But first I am going back to my old haunts in Brooklyn, to reminisce, to see the old apartment, the old school, the Church, and get flooded with memories. That is what this book has done for me.
The book was fine. Not a classic, but fine reading just the same. A few smiles but nothing you have not laughed about if you went to Catholic Schools. I like the sarcasm used in this book, it actually worked very well
Can't put it down! I did not grow up Catholic, but have heard many stories. Well, this brings religion and humor alive and enjoyable! I can't wait to read more of Frank Scoblete's work. Well written, not boring and certainly captivating! Having it on my application makes it great to read just about anywhere!!! Kudos to Scobe!
